Special Event Series with Don Price
A Man with stories…
After 31 years working for the City of Orlando, Don Price, the Sexton of the Greenwood Cemetery, has retired. If you have ever met Don or been on one of his Cemetery tours, then you know that he is a man with stories. He knows the history of every building, every landmark, every street name, every Orlando mayor, and every everything else that you can name.
Fortunately for us, Don wants to continue to share his stories - and believe me - you want to hear them! Mosquito County Tours is introducing a new special event series for 2019 called, Orlando Has History with Don Price. We will be hosting special events all year long where you can come and hear Don and his incredible stories.
Events will be posted here, as well as on our Facebook and Instagram pages. So be sure and follow along - you don’t want to miss this!
February: The City Un-Beautiful
As Don was packing up his office, he discovered an old reel-to-reel film that was collecting dust on a shelf. It was headed for the garbage can, but Don decided to save it and have it transferred to a DVD so it could be viewed. Having no idea what was on the film, Don waited with baited breath to see what gem of Orlando History may be found on this lost footage.
Join us on February 28th for the first viewing of this never-before-seen footage of, “The City Un-Beautiful”. This 23-minute documentary was made in 1962 and takes a look at some of the not-so-beautiful things that were happening in the Parramore part of Orlando. Watch the film with us, then we’ll engage in some #conversationsthatmatter, hosted by Orlando Together.
This event is a fundraiser for Orlando Together and all proceeds will be donated to their non-profit organization. To learn more about them, visit their website.
